The 2009 NAIOP Classic Golf Tournament was held on June 1st, despite Mother Nature’s efforts to ruin the fun. After many enjoyable years at the Inverness Country Club and Golf Course, this year’s tournament was held at Valley Country Club in Aurora. Over 120 players “Rallied at the Valley” for tournament play and competed in various contests, including a marshmallow putting challenge hosted by First American Title Insurance Company. Play finished in less than six hours, which is remarkable, considering participants were pulled off the course for lightening at one point.
After the tournament, players and representatives from NAIOP’s 2009 Fire & Ice Sponsorship Program attended a Victory Reception in the Valley Clubhouse where prizes were awarded in the following categories:
• Tickets for 4 to Rockies Game, courtesy of Colorado Asphalt Services, Inc. – Jeff Cochran
• $100 Gift Card to the Palm Restaurant, courtesy of Callahan Capital Partners – Doug Alexander
• TaylorMade Tour Burner Drive – Scott Wall
• Cleveland 56 Degree Wedge – Aaron Johnson
• Tiger Shark Putter – Brian Wilkes
• Men’s Closest to the Pin – Bill Joyner
• Women’s Closest to the Pin – Mindy Humphrey
• Men’s Longest Drive – Mark Barton
• Women’s Longest Drive – Michelle Brokaw
• Putting Green Contest, hosted by Land Title – Tyler Smith
• Marshmallow Putting Contest – Sean Cochran
• Longest Putt – Joshua King
• 3rd Place Team – Marc Cleveland Team from CTL/Thompson, Inc.
• 2nd Place Team – Bill Pruter Team from The Nichols Partnership
• 1st Place Team – Steve Bye Team from NorthMarq Capital
Players were able to purchase Mulligans and through the proceeds of those sales, we were able to raise $1800 for the NAIOP National PAC which goes to support ongoing legislative efforts at the Federal level. Through the Tiger Woods Drive on the 13th hole, an additional $600 was raised for the Common Cents Fund to support our legislative efforts here at the State level. Thank you to all who contributed!
Special thanks go to our Major Tournament Sponsor, Colorado Association of Mechanical and Plumbing Engineers and our 2009 Silver Sponsor, Security Title Guaranty Company. Additional consideration should be given to hard working members of the Golf Tournament Committee: Jim Creighton, Mindy Humphrey, Doris Rigoni and Chris Boumeester. And last, but not least, Mother Nature - who held off with the rain until players were in and off the course.
